Mr. Anil Harish, President & Trustee

Mr. Anil Harish, having B.A. (Hons.), LL.B. and LL.M. (University of Miami) degrees, is an Advocate by profession, and a partner of the Law Firm, D.M. Harish & Co. which was founded by his father, Late Mr. D.M. Harish. Mr. Anil Harish’s practice includes many diverse areas of the Law i.e. property, exchange control, Foreign Investments, Trusts, Wills and Indian and International Taxation. He has been the office bearer of some prominent Law Institutes and as a specialist in the field of Real Estate, he is on the ‘Advisory Board of the magazine ‘Property Scape’ and of the ‘Accommodation Times Institute of Real Estate Management.’ He has been ranked by the prestigious legal directory of Chambers & Partners as a leading Tax Lawyer having a solid clientele of both domestic and overseas organizations.

Mr. Anil Harish has authored several articles which have been published in the Times of India, Hindustan Times and several professional Journals.

Mr. Anil Harish is the Director of several prestigious Public Limited Companies including Hinduja Global Solutions Ltd., Hinduja Ventures Ltd., Future Enterprises Ltd., Oberoi Realty Ltd. and Blue Star Ltd.

Mr. Anil Harish, a very soft-spoken, down to earth personality will surely take our Board and its institutes to a greater height with his unique leadership.

Besides being Trustee of HSNC Board, Mr. Anil Harish is Trustee of several other Educational and Charitable Trusts i.e. D.M. Harish Foundation, The IndusInd Foundation, Rajni Patel Memorial Foundation and many more. Last but not the least, he is a most sought after Speaker in India and Abroad and has delivered speeches at prestigious events at Brussels, London, Dubai, Muscat and Jakarta besides being a regular Speaker on the Annual Budget.

Mr. Kishu Mansukhani, Immediate Past President & Trustee

Mr. Kishu H. Mansukhani was born in Karachi, then a part of India. His father, Diwan Hashmatrai Mansukhani was Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, who resigned from his coveted post during freedom fighting – Quit India Movement.

Mr. Mansukhani is a Graduate in Mechanical Engineering and Management Studies from USA. He was selected as a member of small group to establish exports for Tata Group – Telco Exports, which later became Tata Exports. He was working with Tata Engineering Company (TELCO) in senior capacity, incharge of International Marketing of Tata vehicles, associate engineering products. During his 30 years tenure with Tata Group, he travelled nearly 100 countries in Middle East, South East Asia, Europe, Africa and South America. He established dealer network and branch offices for the group companies. Mr. Mansukhani created close working relationship with many foreign distinguished personalities including Presidents and Ministers. For recognition of his distinguished work in marketing of Tata Mercedes Benz products, he was given citation by German Chamber of Commerce. He is also a recipient of awards from Presidents of Uganda and Seychelles.

During Sixties and till late Eighties, when the exports of specialized engineering products from India were rare, Mr. Mansukhani as Head of Export Marketing of Tata Motors, pioneered export of Indian made engineering products, commercial vehicles, sophisticated heavy duty products and assisted in setting up projects overseas.

For his exemplary work , he was posted 7 years in New York, USA, as CEO, an International company under Tata Inc., NY. He finalized joint ventures for Tata Group and substantially helped in increasing export of Group’s products.

In USA, Mr. Mansukhani was very active in social and cultural activities, particularly with Indian community. He was one of the founder members for establishing New York-Asian-American Lions Club under the International Association of Lions Club. This Club was created by Mr. Mansukhani and his friends due to social discrimination of Indians in other Clubs. Similarly, he also actively took up strongly with Government of India for deleting words in Passport “Born in Pakistan” to “Then India / Undivided India”.

He served three terms President of Asian-American Lions Club and was appointed as Zone Chairman of New York and Bermuda Island Chapter. In recognition of his remarkable work for “Sight for Sightless” program he was honoured with award from District Governor of International Lions Club Association.

Mr. Mansukhani was active member of Association of Indians in America Inc., which organizes every year Deepavali Festival at famous South Sea Port of New York city. This festival attracted thousands of non-Indians and made them aware of the beauty of Indian culture and cuisine.

After returning from USA, he was invited by Pallonji Group to be Consultant for setting up Tata Motors Assembly products in Tehran, Iran.

Mr. Mansukhani started retail marketing and consultancy business in Pune, representing various international brands, which is currently managed by his son, Keshab.

He was invited to join HSNC Board in 1974. His family has been associated with Hyderabad (Sind) National College Board from its inception in Sindh and has contributed substantially to the Board. Smt. Chandibai Himathmal Mansukhani College named after his grandmother, is largest College in University of Mumbai. Another college, Mansukhani Institute of Management, is named after his father and uncle which is the only Post Graduate College under HSNC Board. His family has also contributed for establishment of various Libraries, Auditoriums and Primary & Secondary Schools of the HSNC Board, including land for CHM campus.

Mr. Mansukhani is actively involved in social and humanitarian activities in India and heads Charitable Trusts which have over the period of a quarter century assisted in rehabilitating many individuals and families through education.

Mr. Mansukhani is also associated with Sadhu Vaswani Mission and has felicitated to establish K.K. Eye Institute, Pune, which does research in their field and has conducted nearly 2 lakhs operations free of cost in Maharashtra and surrounding areas.

He is also founder member and three times President of International Sindhu Chamber of Commerce in Pune which was established with the blessings of Revered Dada Vaswani. The Chamber connects Business persons from all over the world.

Due to his social and humanitarian work, Dada Vaswani complimented him by writing to him “God needs instruments of help and healing in this world of tragedy and tears. I love to think of you as one such instrument.”

Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Past President and Trustee

Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani is the son of eminent ENT Surgeon and Padma Bhushan recipient Dr. L.H. Hiranandani, an icon in the field of medicine. From his early beginnings of teaching charted accountancy, Dr. Niranjan began his initial business by venturing into textiles with a weaving unit at Charkop in Kandivali in 1981. His first spark of recognition in the construction line came with their work in Versova, Andheri in the mid-eighties.

Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani completed his schooling from Campion School, Mumbai and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Hons.) with a distinction of standing Second in Mumbai University. Adding to his professional qualification, he completed his F.C.A. from the Institute of Charted Accountants of India. Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani has done his Doctorate in Philosophy on “Housing Revolution in India – Challenges and Prospects.”

Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani is the Managing Director of the Hiranandani Group of Companies. The Group is today considered as a producer of best quality housing and commercial premises in the country. Apart from construction, the group has diversified into education, horticulture, hospitality, entertainment and retail.

The transformation of a barren land in Powai from a lonely hillside quarry with about 20 trees to one that is bustling with activity, with over 200 acres of greenery, as well as top-of-the-line commercial, residential, recreational and educational facilities is something we all cherish.

Since then, the Hiranandani Group has come a long way to be recognized countrywide for their modern and state-of-the-art mixed user township projects in Powai and Thane, both of which have become preferred residential and commercial locations in and around Mumbai. Dr. Niranjan is actively associated with and holds key positions in various Government Bodies, Private and Social Institutions, Schools and Colleges. Continuing to serve society in the best possible manner, the Group has forayed into the Healthcare sector with the 188 bedded Dr. L.H. Hiranandani Super Speciality Hospitals at Powai and Thane. He calls it his “Buildings of Passion”.

Some of his past achievements include drafting the State Policy of Slum Rehabilitation in Mumbai designed to improve the wellbeing of over 6 million slum inhabitants; acting as trustee for the creation of Nathdwara Township as a heritage destination; serving on the board of the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), an organization which distributes US$ 3 billion per annum to help fund the building of housing and habitat policy for low-income families; acting as an adviser to Government of India on housing and habitat policy for over a decade, and serving as Chairman of Housing Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

The Hiranandani Group has gone international with 23 Marina – a 395 m high 90 storied neo-lifestyle residential tower coming up in the upscale Marina region of Dubai.

Dr. Niarnjan Hiranandani is a Business Leader with a combination of qualities like sharp professional business acumen, an Up-front citizen with social awareness, the Industry leader with up to date knowledge. Mr. Lal Chellaram, Trustee.

Mr. Lal Chellaram is one of the Trustees of HSNC Board. He was born in Hyderabad (Sind), in undivided India, completed his education in England, graduating in Economics from University of London. He is the grandson of Seth Kishinchand Chellaram. Seth Kishinchand Chellaram helped Principal Kundnani, the founding father of Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board, who along with Barrister Hotchand Advani, approached him for funds to establish a college in Mumbai after the partition of India. Seth Kishinchand Chellaram helped with the seed money by giving a donation and due to his magnanimous and timely help, the Board honoured him by naming two colleges after him i.e. Kishinchand Chellaram College and Kishinchand Chellaram Law College, both at Churchgate, established in 1954 and 1955 respectively. Today K.C. and K.C. Law college buildings stand as a fitting memorial to the revered memory of Seth Kishinchand Chellaram.

Mr. Lal Chellaram heads the Kishinchand Chellaram Educational Trust. For the past several decades the Trust has been helping thousands of needy children acquire higher education. Mr. Lal Chellaram established the Chellaram Foundation in India, a public charitable organisation, in loving memory of Late Kishinchand Chellaram and Bhai Lokumal Chellaram. Mr. Lal Chellaram is the chairman of 5 charity foundations across the globe.

Mr. Lal Chellaram has been at the helm of various companies in Hong Kong, Far East, India, UK, USA, Europe, Gibraltar, Japan and Africa during the last 4 decades.

Realizing the plight of millions of diabetic patients, he has established a multi-purpose, state-of-the-art Chellaram Diabetes Institute (CDI) in Pune – a private non-profit organization which is a unit of the Chellaram Foundation – with a vision to help expert medical and scientific researchers and Educators make an impact on diabetic treatment for the 80 million known Diabetics in India.

He is the Chairman of Chellaram Shipping. From their headquarters in Hong Kong – an international hub of maritime activity in the most dynamic region of the world – they provide full commercial, technical and crewing services using the latest IT and communications technology. Today Chellaram Shipping owns and manages a large fleet of modern and versatile dry-bulk carriers.

Mrs. Maya Shahani, Trustee.

Maya Shahani is the Chairperson of the Shahani Group which focuses on promoting quality education through its Institutes. The Thadomal Shahani Centre for Management is affiliated to U.K. Universities and has won the DNA and CII awards for the best business school for industry-academic linkages. She is a Trustee of the Thadomal Shahani Trust, founded in 1952 by her late father-in-law Dada Kishinchand Thadomal Shahani, who was one of the prominent members of the HSNC Board after its inception.

She is also the Chairperson of the SAGE Foundation, which educates and empowers the under-resourced and works with the Clinton Global Initiative. The Foundation is an affiliate of Buy1Give1, a global organization which has donated thousands of dollars towards education and healthcare.

Ms Shahani is the Vice Chairperson of the Global Dialogue Foundation which works with the United Nations to bring in a culture of Peace through Dialogue. A patron of the Cancer Patient’s Aid Association, she has opened a Centre for the Early Detection of Cancer in the memory of her mother-in-law. She is the Patron Trustee of the Women’s Movement for Peace and Prosperity which gives a voice to the voiceless women.

Ms Shahani is the recipient of several awards such as the Glory of India (Gold Medalist) Award, Global Peace Award, the Jewel of India Award, the Jamnalal Bajaj Award, the Women Achievers Award, Bharat Jyoti Puraskar, the Entrepreneur Business School Award, the Clinton Global Initiative Certificate, Global Economic Summit Award, the Mahatma Gandhi Samman, presented at the British Parliament, House of Commons, and International Achiever’s Award at the International Summit at Tashkent.

With “Ethical Excellence” as her credo, she fulfils her duties with compassion, love and commitment.
